Forage Crop Manager

Essential Job Functions:

-Monitor Alfalfa Irrigation

-Oversee Hay Harvesting Operation

-Issue fertilizer plans and instructions

-Manage and enter in Alfalfa production data

-Follow up on Alfalfa quality and customer satisfaction

-Deal with Alfalfa sales and distribution

-Manage Alfalfa shipping process in winter months

-Oversee tractors and sprinkler system in the Alfalfa production department.

Client Services:

Deals with customer needs in a timely manor

Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory and meet minimum performance standards.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education:

-B.S. degree in Ag related feild preferred           

Experience:                            

-5 years of alfalfa production experience preferred

-3 years of corn production experience preferred

-Excellent interpersonal skills

 

Language Skills: 

-Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental/funding entity regulations.  Ability to write reports regarding business correspondence and case notes.

-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

-Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Physical Demands: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Possesses a means of reliable transportation, with current required Texas liability, and has the ability to travel throughout Collin County to multiple location sites.

Water Distribution Manager

Water Distribution Manager

 

 

Larsen Farms is currently looking for a qualified individual to manage our water distribution throughout a 45,000 acre irrigated farm. We have a large, privately owned farm with over 400 employees and can’t wait to add one more. Basic job duties would include communicating with other departments about daily water needs, monitoring water usage and operation, and making sure we stay compliant with state/ federal water regulations.

Applicant will need to be comfortable using a computer and basic Microsoft programs, have good communications skills, and have previous experience with underground water distribution. Must be fluent in English but bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Daily work would consist of:
• Communicating with other departments about daily water needs
• Collecting information and preparing daily/weekly/monthly reports 
• Monitor water usage and operations to ensure water application and wells are in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and permits 
• Plan and coordinate the activities of the water distribution while effectively motivating employees and meeting the goals of the department
• Evaluate the performance of Pivot Trac and operating systems to make recommendations for improvements
• Attend all water district meetings and stay up-to-date on all state/county water regulations to insure we are compliant 
• Review and analyze pooling unit allocation with consulting firm for any possible changes to pooling units to optimize irrigation water resources

This is a full time, year round position located in Dalhart, TX so applicant must be from the area or willing to relocate. 

Offering a competitive wage it but will depend on experience, skill level, and character. Possibly a salaried position including benefits
