Packaging Warehouse Manager

Location: Dalhart Texas

 

Job Summary: The Packaging Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and supporting the daily duties of the potato packaging warehouse composed of 150 employees. This includes assuring potatoes are washed, sorted and packaged in accordance to company standards from a personal and food safety aspect.

Reports to: Senior Management

Job Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual skills (Spanish) – Must be able to speak, read, and write.
  • Computer skills- Must be proficient in word, excel, and able to navigate a user interface.
  • Leadership skills – Must be able and willing to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Time management – Must be able to project and execute tasks with the ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-      paced environment.
  • Communication skills- Must have strong communication skills verbal, written, and listening.
  • Problem solving – Must demonstrate ability to identify problems and troubleshoot for resolutions.
  • HACCP / Food Safety skills – Preferred 2 years

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compose daily report of work completed and barriers with resolutions.
  • Create and publish projected work schedules in a daily, weekly and monthly range.
  • Assure work preparations are completed in advance to operate efficiently and reduce down time.
  • Promote and practice company quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Assure preventative maintenance on equipment is being completed.
  • Understand machine and equipment manuals and user guides.
  • Understand, teach and follow company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Communicate Standard Operating Procedure revisions to team members and assure they follow them.
  • Will learn and teach new equipment technologies.
  • All duties assigned by Senior Manager in accordance to company standards.
  • Conduct reviews and salary adjustments of direct reporting employees.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reporting employees.  
  • Meet customer order requirements and deadlines.

Job Description

The scale operator is responsible for all facets of the operations of a truck weighing process. The duties include, but are not limited to, weighing trucks, recording all information in a computerized weighing system, entering data into an Excel report, running reports, sampling certain inbound/outbound materials, and filing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions.
  • Inspect paperwork and loads for inbound and outbound trucks. Enter all information into computer.
  • Take samples of inbound/outbound material if required.
  • Maintain order and housekeeping of scales and scale houses.
  • Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports, as assigned.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Could be sitting for up to 8 hours at desk.

This is a seasonal position with full time possibilities.

Operator hours are between 20 to 30 hours a week until start of Haylage in May.

Operator Hours are between 30 to 50 hours a week from May to October.

The Scales are open 7 days a week. This position will require weekends and late nights.

JOB TYPE: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY: Plans, organizes and directs the Human Resources programs and systems for Larsen Farms policies, procedures, and departmental objectives. Supervises departmental personnel for Human Resources and personnel functions including recruiting, selection, employment, orientation and training, safety, workers compensation program, health benefits, salary and compensation, coaching and counseling, evaluations, discipline, and terminations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: Associate degree in business, management, or a related field preferred.

B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Leadership and management abilities and effective oral and written communication skills.

C. Communication Skills: Must be fluent in Spanish

D. Experience:
1. Prior Work Experience: Minimum of three years of Human Resources experience.

2. Technical Training: HRIS systems experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Staffs the farm with required personnel.
  • Meets with department managers to determine staffing needs.
  • Conducts recruiting programs and screening, interview and selection processes.
  • Processes new employees into the work force.
  • Develops and maintains personnel policies.
  • Recommends policies to be approved by leadership team and establishes procedures to support approved policies.
  • Reviews personnel practices to assure they comply with established policies.
  • Revises existing policies or recommends new policies when necessary.
  • Serves as the custodian of the official personnel records of employees.
  • Determines employment categories of employees and manages the compensation plan and pay policies.
  • Provides systems for evaluating employee’s performance of their job duties.
  • Establishes employee development programs including in-service and continuing education opportunities.
  • Maintains programs to further employee relations. Administers the established Corrective Action (disciplinary system).
  • Administers the employee benefits programs including the financial payments for programs as directed.   
  • Provides and monitors the procedures for an employee’s termination of employment.
  • Organizes and monitors the Annual Open Enrollment.
  • Administers COBRA benefits to exiting employees as necessary.
  • Serves as the human resources advisor to supervisors, department managers, and leadership team.
  • Updates the leadership team, and supervisors advised of new laws and changes in personnel policies and practice.
  • Counsels with supervisors at all levels concerning personnel problems or employee relations matters.
  • Provides interpretation of personnel policies and supportive procedures and practices.
  • Serves as member of the Senior Management team.
  • Answers inquiries, screens applicants and arranges interviews.
  • Handles inquiries concerning present and past employment.
  • Answers inquiries concerning employment opportunities.
  • Screens and interviews applicants.
  • Arranges interviews with department heads and checks references when requested by the leadership team.
  • Assists all new hires with the completion of new hire paperwork and pre-employment requirements.
  • Informs new employees of insurance and other benefits.
  • Processes necessary forms for the data system, insurance company, and payroll deductions.
  • Conducts New Employee Orientation, as necessary.
  • Supervises general office duties for the human resources function.
  • Develops job descriptions and job postings as needed for employment advertising.
  • Prepares reports and surveys for the Human Resources Department and the leadership team.
  • Supervises the maintenance of an accurate up-to-date filing system for personnel records, insurance files, and inactive files.
  • Supervises tracking of required licensures and certifications and required personnel in-services.
  • Processes workers compensation claims.
  • Completes annual OSHA reports.
